Message from the Chair
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the BUET ’94’ (Dhrupodi)’s 1st International Symposium: Advancing Engineering for a Sustainable Future.
This symposium is a collective initiative of the BUET 1994 batch, conceived to create a global platform for meaningful exchange across engineering, architecture, and the built environment. Three decades after our graduation from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), we come together, academics, professionals, industry leaders, and alumni, to reflect on our shared foundation and to contribute toward shaping a more sustainable, resilient, and technologically advanced future.
The challenges facing our world today, climate change, rapid urbanization, energy transition, digital transformation, and infrastructure resilience, are inherently interdisciplinary. Increasingly, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital technologies are transforming how we design, build, monitor, and manage engineering systems. Recognizing this, the symposium brings together contributions from Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic, Computer, Architecture, Chemical, Materials & Metallurgical, and Naval & Marine Engineering, fostering dialogue that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries.
This inaugural symposium places particular emphasis on applied research, case studies, and emerging ideas, encouraging participation from both academia and practice. By adopting concise extended abstracts and real-world case studies, we aim to promote accessibility, rapid knowledge exchange, and impactful discussions grounded in practical experience.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I warmly invite researchers, practitioners, students, and industry professionals from around the world to participate in this symposium. Your contributions and engagement will be central to its success and to strengthening global collaboration within and beyond the BUET community.
I look forward to your participation and to a stimulating exchange of ideas as we collectively advance engineering for a sustainable future.
